Have you ever considered what it might be like to work in a library environment considerably different to the one you currently work in? You may be curious but not yet ready to make any definite changes, so why not enjoy finding out about the experiences some of your colleagues in the library world had when they decided to venture to another library for an exchange.
Interested? Please read Martin O’Connor and Cathal Kerrigan’s experiences of the exchange programme between the Boole Library, University College Cork (UCC) and Hangzhou Municipal Library, South East China in An Leabharlann.
Hint: Scroll down the page to see the full article. It contains some lovely photos of this exciting exchange.
My own exchange last academic year, under Library Ireland Week, was a bit closer to home. You can read about my very useful and enjoyable one-day visit to Tallaght Hospital Library in An Leabharlann.

Yes I would like the one to China.
🙂
Yes Della I think we would all like the one to China. Still travelling closer to home is very interesting too and rewarding. It also helps you take a step back and look at certain aspects of your own job that could perhaps benefit from what you learnt from the exchange.
Great blog Bernie
Marie & I had a day in the Oireachtas library. Great welcome by all the staff there. They made sure we got a great overview of their library & the service they provide. It was really enjoyable & well worth doing.
We were very happy to invite them back to NUIM, as a follow up.
